The idea

Who we are

(South and Southeast Asia Network for Environmental Education) SASEANEE Connect is a collaborative consortium of global partners dedicated to promoting environmental literacy, skills, and sustainability in the South and Southeast Asia regions.

Our Vision

We envision a green and equitable sustainable future in South and Southeast Asia by working with dynamic partners, inspiring governments, and promoting sustainable actions among youth, educators, and community members of the region.

Our History

In 1993, SASEANEE was launched as a workshop by Centre for Environment Education (CEE) in partnership with IUCN CEC to bring organizations and people together to share resources, and experiences for environment education from 16 countries across South and Southeast Asia.

piplo

The peepal tree, also known as the tree of enlightenment, is widespread in many parts of the South and Southeast Asia region. It is the leaf of this tree that inspired the development of a character to symbolize the spirit of SASEANEE-PIPLO!

PIPLO equally represents innovativeness of educational approaches that are required to take on the formidable challenges of education and communication for sustainable development.

Theltej Tekra, where the CEE campus is located, was a totally barren hill and the peepal tree which stands at the top of the hill was one of the first to be planted on the campus.
