Regional Dialogue on Youth Leadership for Sustainable Lifestyles

The Regional Dialogue on “Youth Leadership for Sustainable Lifestyles” was organized as part of the SASEANEE Connect initiative to highlight and celebrate the contributions of young changemakers working towards sustainability across diverse sectors. The online dialogue was held on 7 January 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST and brought together youth leaders, practitioners, and sustainability enthusiasts from across the region.

The session featured three distinguished young speakers who shared their experiences, challenges, and innovative approaches to promoting sustainable lifestyles. Lida Chhun spoke on Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality, highlighting the role of responsible tourism practices in supporting local communities and environmental conservation. Seyyede Khamsa Asbaghian Namini discussed Soil Conservation, emphasizing the importance of soil health, sustainable land management, and community participation in ecological restoration. Saravana Kumaran presented insights on Climate-Conscious Consumerism, encouraging individuals to adopt informed consumption patterns and make environmentally responsible lifestyle choices.

The dialogue was moderated by Susmita Chanda from SASEANEE Connect, Centre for Environment Education (CEE), who facilitated an engaging discussion among the speakers and participants. The session explored the role of youth in driving sustainability transitions, fostering innovation, and influencing behavioral change at local and regional levels.

The programme provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, inspiring participants to recognize the transformative potential of youth leadership in advancing sustainable lifestyles and contributing to broader environmental and developmental goals.
