Global Environmental Education Partnership
GEEP is about championing environmental education around the world. We seek to use the power of education to create a more just and sustainable future, where people and nature thrive. Our goal—a world where environmental and social responsibility drive individual, community, and institutional choices.
Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP), is a global network committed to advancing environmental literacy to create a more just and sustainable future through education.
GEEP is comprised of environmental education policymakers, providers, and practitioners who represent government and/or nongovernmental sectors in countries throughout the world. GEEP was launched by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration, and the North American Association for Environmental Education in 2014, and is governed by an executive committee, a secretariat, a global advisory group, and regional advisory groups.
The mission of the GEEP is to create a vibrant and inclusive learning network designed to build capacity in countries around the world to strengthen environmental education that leads to a more just and sustainable future.
To accomplish the mission, the GEEP is striving to:
Goal 1
Connect and build bridges among practitioners, researchers, policy makers, institutions, providers, and international networks to elevate effective practices, scale impact, share global resources, and catalyze collaboration.
Goal 2
Demonstrate the value and impact of EE as a tool for achieving the SDGs.
Goal 3
Partner with national and regional organizations to support, mentor, and empower a new generation of innovative and inspiration leaders to shape the future.
Goal 4
Promote innovation through a Global EE Think Tank.
Our Programs
The Youth Innovation Challenge (YIC)
The Youth Innovation Challenge (YIC) is a global flagship initiative by the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP) and the Taiwan Ocean Conservation Administration (OCA). Designed for young leaders aged 15–30, the challenge seeks research-based, creative, and feasible solutions to pressing marine issues. The primary requirement is that every proposal must integrate Environmental Education (EE) as a central strategy, ensuring the solution doesn't just treat the symptoms but empowers long-term behavioral change within communities.
The program typically focuses on three key pillars: marine debris mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and public-private partnerships. Winners of the challenge receive global recognition, a $1,000 USD prize, and a fully funded trip to Taiwan to attend an international award ceremony and workshop. By bridging the gap between innovative youth-led startups and high-level policy circles, the YIC provides a professional platform for the next generation to scale their impact on global ocean health.

The GEEP Case Study Collection
The GEEP Case Study Collection is a professional digital library documenting successful environmental education (EE) programs and policies from over 50 countries. Each entry acts as a functional blueprint, detailing project goals, implementation strategies, and measurable outcomes. Organized by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the collection allows users to find specific evidence-based models—such as India's compulsory EE laws or circular economy initiatives in universities—that can be replicated to solve local environmental challenges.
Beyond providing inspiration, the collection highlights "lessons learned" to help practitioners scale their impact while avoiding common pitfalls. For professionals in sustainability or corporate social responsibility (CSR), these case studies offer the technical data and structural frameworks necessary to build credible, results-oriented projects. Whether the focus is on marine conservation, urban waste, or climate resilience, the collection serves as a global bridge between successful policy and grassroots action.
